Questionnaire Creation and Survey Management Using Free/Open Tools - (2 days)

Using only free and open tools, this workshop will run through setting up and managing your questionnaire in a way that it can be delivered on the web, on paper or via a telephone interview.

​Adam Zammit is the Director of Operations at ACSPRI.  Adam is the lead developer and maintainer of a suite of free / open source tools for survey research (queXML, queXF, queXS and queXC) and is a contributor to the LimeSurvey project. Adam also manages many survey projects, including web, telephone and paper based studies. Current projects include data collection for the Australian Survey of Social Attitudes (AuSSA) – a national postal survey.

Questionnaire Creation and Survey Management Using Free/Open Tools - (2 days)

 

This workshop is an opportunity to spend 2 days immersed in the questionnaire creation process and get familiar with survey management processes and tools. A small time will be devoted to introducing the Limesurvey system for questionnaire creation. The remainder of the workshop will focus on your individual questionnaire and how it can be effectively programmed and produced as a web, paper or telephone instrument. We will conclude with tools for managing the survey process such as email or postal invitations, telephone sample management, data output and reporting.

All software used will be free / open source.

The workshop is relevant to students or researchers who have already designed their questionnaire and want to set up and manage their survey project themselves.

 

 

Day 1

  • Introduction to questionnaire creation using Limesurvey (CANVASS) and queXML
  • Individual assistance with questionnaire creation
  • Software installation if required

 

Day 2

  • Individual assistance with questionnaire creation / production (cont.)
  • Survey management including email or paper invitations, tokens
  • Survey monitoring, reporting and data output
