Recommended but not required text:
- Grbich, C. 2013. Introduction to Data Analysis. Sage International: London,
Participants will be provided with copies of the power point presentation.
I found the set up really good, keeping the participants engaged and involved with a good balance of lecturing and group activities.
It was very useful to have an expert in the field discuss the different methods of data collection and their experiences in different populations and settings.
I'm very happy with the online experience compared to face-to-face courses. The convener paced it very well, using break out rooms for small group activities and varying the activities to lessen the effects of computer screen fatigue. In this way everyone participated and received feedback quite quickly. I have been wanting to do this course since last year but the logistics of travelling to Melbourne (even when not in lock down) was very difficult for me. I would like to see more courses offered via Zoom. It was nice to see so many participants from all parts of Australia.
Delivery of this course is online - via Zoom.
Please ensure you have the following:
- Reliable Internet connection with at least 5Gb per day of data available (i.e. a 5 day course will use about 25Gb of data just on the Zoom application)
- A computer/laptop with the Zoom application installed (free)
- A webcam (built in to most laptops)
- A headset with a microphone (not required but ideal)
- A second monitor/screen if possible
Please also check the course page for specific software requirements (if any).
